The convent San Tanco in Puerto Rico was the place of a strange recurring sight, that of the petite novice Sister Bertrille (Sally Field) who was lifted to skyward flights whenever a brisk, stiff wind caught the heavily starched cornette worn by her order. The aerodynamics was further aided by the fact that the Sister only weighed 90 pounds. Her gift of flight always came at moments when others needed her help, yet often ended up with Sister Bertrille ending up in trouble.

Her Mother Superior, the Reverend Mother Plaseato (Madeleine Sherwood) was not amused by Sister Bertrille's antics of flight, but her pleasant nature and her sincere desire to do good works endeared her to everyone. Sister Bertrille was close friends to Sister Jacqueline. This 1960s fantasy sitcom aired for 83 episodes from 9/7/1967 to 9/18/1970 on ABC.

In a TV interview Sally Field described the discomfort she experienced during her airborne feats, attached to cables that did not always function properly.
