Dog the Bounty Hunter is a reality television show chronicling Duane "Dog" Chapman's operations in his bounty hunting firm Da Kine Bail Bonds in Honolulu, Hawaii. Dog Chapman is an imposing figure of a man. With his blonde mullet, muscle shirt and scraggy beard he looks like trouble. Instead of a gun he uses a super sized can of Chemical Mace. He is joined in his exploits by his current wife/business partner Beth, while she has the appearance of a ‘biker chick’ she demonstrates knowledge of every aspect of the business from the paperwork to bringing a man down. Then there’s his third son Leland. Leland runs his own office on the ‘big island’ but is always there to help out. And fellow bounty hunter Tim Chapman (no relation to Dog though he treats him as a "brother"). Also, his nephew Justin Bihag was also part of the team, a former basketball player he is often the but end of the many pranks that Dog loves to play. While the program for the most part follows Chapman and his team's pursuits against actual criminals who violated the conditions of their bail, the program also explores Chapman's human side, especially his God-fearing attitude (being a born-again Christian) and his life as a husband to Beth, a father to his children, and a reformed ex-convict. The program spun off from their appearance in the A&E Network's Take This Job, a program about people with unusual occupations.
