Tennessee Ernie Ford was host, singer, comedian, and star of this variety show, whose title referred not to him, but to its sponsor, the Ford Motor Company. Earnie's informal, friendly quality set the tone for the program, which included his reminiscences about growing up in Bristol, Tennessee, and his homespun catchphrases ("Bless your pea-pickin' hearts!"). The musical portion of the program consisted mostly of country and western and gospel music, for which Ernie was famous, and the show generally ended with a hymn. The choral group "The Voices of Walter Schumann" backed Ernie during his first season; "The Top Twenty," a more contemporary mixed singing group, performed those duties for the remainder of teh show's run.
