The Closer is an American television police drama series. The protagonist is Deputy Police Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson, who comes from Atlanta to Los Angeles to head up a special unit of the LAPD that handles sensitive, high-profile murder cases. Johnson's quirky personality and hard-nosed approach often rub her colleagues the wrong way, but her reputation as one of the world's best interrogators eventually wins over even her toughest critics.
The Closer was seen by more than 7 million viewers on its debut, according to Nielsen Media Research, and it was the top-rated premiere episode ever of any original scripted series on basic cable. The series shows in the US on the TNT network, and has been sold to the UK's More4 station. It was created by James Duff and the Shephard/Robin Company in association with Warner Bros.
