Trump Goes Hollywood for Sixth 'Apprentice'

(Posted December 2, 2005 by Leah Yoakum)

Hollywood, famous for, among other things, the rather large egos of its power players, will soon have to make room for another man with a rather healthy sense of self: The Donald.

NBC has picked up a sixth cycle of "The Apprentice," which will take star/executive producer Donald Trump out of Manhattan and send him and his would-be employees to Los Angeles. The new installment of the show will likely air in the 2006-07 season.

The order for a sixth Trump-led "Apprentice" comes despite sharply lower ratings for this fall's installment of the show, as well as lackluster numbers for a spinoff starring Martha Stewart. So far this season "The Apprentice" is drawing 10.5 million viewers per week, down from 15.6 million for the show's second edition last fall. Ratings in NBC's favored audience of adults 18-49 are also off significantly.

Season four of "The Apprentice" concludes Thursday, Dec. 15, with the fifth edition of the show ready to roll early next year.
