'Lost,' 'Chris' Take Family TV Honors |
(Posted December 2, 2005 by Leah Yoakum) ABC's hit picked up its latest laurel at the seventh annual Family Television Awards Wednesday (Nov. 30). The awards are doled out by the Family Friendly Programming Forum, a group of national advertisers that offers script-development money for family-oriented shows (among them "Gilmore Girls" and "Commander in Chief") and encourages networks to program shows appropriate for kids and adults in the first two hours of primetime. "Everybody Hates Chris," which received forum development money this year, won the best new series award at Wednesday's ceremony. CBS' veteran series "The King of Queens" was honored for best comedy, and "The Amazing Race" won best reality show. "Lost" is a two-time winner at the awards, having earned best new series honors last year. None of the other series winners took home awards last year. Other winners were Jim Belushi for best actor, Reba McEntire -- who also hosted the awards -- for best actress and Ty Pennington for best reality-show host. TNT's "The Wool Cap" was named best movie, and "7th Heaven" received a lifetime achievement award.
The Family Television Awards will air Sunday, Dec. 11 on The WB. |
