CBS still weighing anchor possibilities

(Posted July 21, 2005 by Leah Yoakum)

Six months after vowing to remake "CBS Evening News" following the departure of Dan Rather, CBS chief Leslie Moonves said Thursday the network is in no hurry.

Rather left March 9, making way for CBS News veteran correspondent Bob Schieffer to take over temporarily. It isn't clear how long he will stay.

Moonves and CBS News president Andrew Heyward said they will use the summer to formulate a plan and test elements of it before unveiling the broadcast. Moonves reaffirmed his commitment to not luring a major news star to the anchor chair.
