Post Katrina: 'Family Guy' Bumped, 'Invasion' Stays Put |
|
(Posted September 9, 2005 by Leah Yoakum) The animated FOX series returns with new episodes Sunday (Sept. 11) following its 10-week summer run. The season premiere was scheduled to be an episode called "Perfect Castaway," in which Peter (the voice of series creator Seth MacFarlane) and his pals end up stranded on an island following a storm on their fishing trip.
The episode featured a couple of references to hurricanes, and given the ongoing story of Katrina's devastation, the network decided to hold off on airing it. It's currently scheduled to run Sunday, Sept. 25. In its place this Sunday, FOX will air an episode called "Peter's Got Woods," in which Peter befriends actor James Woods (guest-starring as himself) after having a falling out with Brian the dog. After the premiere, the show will deal with the aftereffects of the storm -- and the possible alien beings that arrived with it -- on its characters. But there's no escaping the hurricane in the pilot, which features heavy rain, high winds and wrecked buildings in the aftermath.
ABC is planning to run a viewer advistory before the "Invasion" premiere to alert audiences to its subject matter. |
