TNT books Grisham pilot

TNT is teaming with best-selling author John Grisham to develop an adaptation of his novel "The Street Lawyer."

The cable network is eyeing a four-hour "backdoor" pilot that could eventually end up as a series. The concept was once under consideration at ABC as a drama pilot in 2003, but the network ended up passing.

"Lawyer" centers on an Ivy League-bred attorney who leaves his cushy job at a white-shoe firm for a legal-aid post after being held hostage by a vengeful homeless man. Grisham would serve as an executive producer. TNT declined comment.
