E!, Star Part Red-Carpet Ways

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) This much appears certain: Star Jones Reynolds' side gig as a red-carpet host for E! is done. Just who made the decision, though, is a up for debate. Reynolds has been with E! for the past year, hosting red-carpet specials from major Hollywood awards shows after Joan and Melissa Rivers decamped for the TV Guide Channel. After working the Oscars, Golden Globes and other shows, her last event for E! was the Emmy red carpet earlier this month. According to the New York Post, the network told "The View" co-host after the Emmys that it wouldn't be renewing her contract. Jones, however, says she walked away herself, citing commitments to the ABC daytime talk show and a book called "Shine: A Physical, Emotional, and Spiritual Journey to Finding Love," about her life with husband Al Reynolds.

"I couldn't make any commitments next year beyond supporting the book and doing 'The View,'" she tells the paper. "I want to make sure I do my everyday job very well." Whatever the reason for Reynolds' departure, it now looks like "E! News" host Giuliana DePandi, comedian Kathy Griffin and "Queer Eye" fashion maven Carson Kressley will form the channel's new red-carpet team. It's unclear at this point whether Griffin will be allowed within shouting distance of awards-show attendees the next time around.
