The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp comes to TV Land in February!

(Posted January 28, 2005 by Stephen Strong)

Every Saturday and Sunday at 3 & 3:30 pm.

On February 5, 2005 Wyatt Earp the series will be joining the TV Land lineup on Saturdays and Sundays.

Debuting on Sept. 6, 1955, "The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp" was the first adult western on television beating out "Gunsmoke" for that distinction by four days. Of the two series, "Wyatt Earp" was more upbeat and fast-paced, airing for its entire six-year run on ABC on Tuesday nights.

It featured Hugh O'Brien as the legendary marshal, first in Ellsworth, Kansas, then in Dodge City, Kansas, and finally in Tombstone, Arizona. The series emphasized the interrelations of the characters, and the plots involved character development and politics as often as they did action.  The series, if it did not portray Earp's life with the utmost accuracy, at least paid lip service to history, and the series ended with the infamous gunfight at the O. K. Corral.
