'Arrested Development' Loves Chachi

(Posted September 7, 2005 by Leah Yoakum)

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) Henry Winkler is starring in a new CBS series, "Out of Practice," this fall, which means he probably won't be available to continue his role as incompetent lawyer Barry Zuckercorn on FOX's "Arrested Development."

So with the Fonz no longer available, the show is turning to Chachi.

FOX confirms that Scott Baio, who played Fonzie's cousin Chachi for seven years on "Happy Days," will guest-star this season as a new lawyer retained by the Bluth family to deal with their myriad legal problems. Thus far, Baio is set for just one episode, playing a character named Bob Loblaw.

Baio's casting extends the "Happy Days" lineage of "Arrested Development," which includes executive producer-narrator Ron Howard as well as Winkler, who's appeared in more than a dozen episodes over the show's two seasons.

Post-"Happy Days" and "Joanie Loves Chachi," Baio played the title character in "Charles in Charge" for six seasons and later starred on CBS' "Diagnosis Murder" for its first two years. Recent credits include "SuperBabies" and Wes Craven's "Cursed."

There's no word yet on when Baio will appear on "Arrested Development," which starts its third season Monday, Sept. 19.
