'Modern Men' Gets Dose of 'Medicine Woman'

(Posted August 5, 2005 by Leah Yoakum)

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) In its search for a woman to play a doctor on the comedy "Modern Men," The WB has found someone with experience: Dr. Quinn.

The Frog announced Thursday (Aug. 4) that Jane Seymour -- currently co-starring in "Wedding Crashers" and best known to TV viewers as "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman" -- is joining the cast of "Modern Men," which is scheduled for midseason. The part is Seymour's first regular role on a sitcom and her first regular TV work of any kind since "Dr. Quinn" ended in 1998.

She'll play Dr. Stangl, a no-nonsense therapist and "life coach" who helps the three title characters (Josh Braaten, Eric Lively and Max Greenfield) get a handle on their relationships with women. She replaces Wendie Malick, who played the part in the show's pilot but had to depart after ABC picked up her series "Jake in Progress."
