Perry Hits the Books for TNT's 'Clark'

(Posted August 2, 2005 by Leah Yoakum)

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) Matthew Perry, who's dipped his actorly toes into drama with appearances on "The West Wing," will dive all the way in with his next project: the TNT movie "The Ron Clark Story."

The former "Friends" star has signed on to the title role in the original film, about a teacher who moved from rural North Carolina to work in one of New York City's most troubled public schools. Clark won Disney's Teacher of the Year award in 2000 and has gone on to write best-selling books about his approach to education and reaching kids.

The movie, which will begin shooting this fall and likely premiere in early 2006, will air under the "Johnson & Johnson Spotlight Presentation" banner. Previous J&J movies have included the multiple Emmy winner "Door to Door" and last year's "The Wool Cap," which is up for four Emmys.
