Marty Hopkirk fills in for his partner Jeff Randall to collect payment on a typical cheating husband case. Before he can collect the woman who hired them dies, supposedly of a heart attack. Marty thinks otherwise, but before he can convey his suspicions to partner Jeff, he too dies, the victim of a hit-and-run driver. Following the funeral Marty's ghost returns, visible only to Jeff, to tell him it was not an accident: Marty was murdered.
