Daria's class takes a field trip to the enormous Mall of the Millennium, much to Daria and Jane's dismay. Meanwhile, Quinn and her friends, the Fashion Club, ditch school to go to the same mall, but get in trouble when they run into Daria there.

Daria's reference to "playing that John Lennon song backwards" is to two things. The first is to John Lennon's smash hit "Imagine." The second is to the common claim that playing a record backwards reveals hidden lyrics... which also ties into the Beatles, as some people claim that playing a particular Beatles tune backwards reveals the phrase "Paul is dead" (referring to Paul McCartney).

Fuzzy Wuzzy Wee Bits, and Mrs. Bennett's obsession with them, is a joke on the craze over the Beanie Babies collectable plush toys.
