Biography: Aida Turturro (born September 25, 1962) is an American actress who is most well-known for playing Janice Soprano, sister of New Jersey mob boss, Tony Soprano, on the HBO, TV series, The Sopranos, a role which netted her an Emmy Award nomination. She has also appeared in a number of films including Sleepers, Deep Blue Sea, Mickey Blue Eyes and Bringing Out the Dead.

Actor John Turturro is Aida Turturro's cousin.

Majored in theatre at State University of New York, New Paltz, and graduated in 1984

Appeared on Broadway in A Streetcar Named Desire in 1992

Cousin of Nicholas Turturro, John Turturro.

She has been a long-time friend of her "The Sopranos" (1999) co-star James Gandolfini. In addition to their work on this hit show, they have appeared in two feature films together: Angie (1994) and Fallen (1998), and have co-starred in a 1992 Broadway revival of "A StreetcarNamed Desire", which also starred Jessica Lange and Alec Baldwin.

Played Mayor Dawgmeat in the SUNY New Paltz production of Li'l Abner her senior year (1984).
