Biography: John Goodman (born June 20, 1952 in St. Louis, Missouri) is an American actor. Standing 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m) and weighing nearly 400 lb (181 kg), he is best known for his large comic roles, including Fred Flintstone in the movie The Flintstones, Roseanne Barr's husband in the TV sitcom Roseanne, the voice of Sully in Monsters, Inc. and many roles in movies of The Coen Brothers.
He had his own sitcom called Normal, Ohio in which he played an anti-typical gay man who returns to his small hometown to start a life. Although the show projected a positive message for homosexuals, gay fans did not respond well, and critics panned the show. Goodman has also been a popular guest host a number of times on NBC TV's Saturday Night Live. Goodman also has a recurring role on The West Wing, as former-President Glen Allen Walken.
