Biography: Madge Sinclair was a Jamaican actress born in Kingston on 28 April of 1938 and died in Los Angeles, California on 20 December of 1995, of leukemia.
Sinclair received an Emmy Award nomination for her role as Belle in the miniseries Roots. She went on to a long-running stint in the 1980s as nurse Ernestine Shoop on the series Trapper John, M.D. opposite Pernell Roberts.
Sinclair became known to another generation for her portrayal of Sarabi, Simba’s mother in the 1994 Disney animated film The Lion King. The film became the best selling home video.
