Biography: Marina Sirtis (born March 29, 1960 in London, England) is a British actress most noted for playing the comely half-human, half-Betazoid Counselor Deanna Troi on the television and film series Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Before this role, Sirtis had only done a few films of little note (including the Faye Dunaway film The Wicked Lady). She was born to Greek parents who didn't want her to be an actress. As soon as she completed high school, she secretly applied to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
After graduation, she worked in musical theater, repertory and television. In 1986, she moved to Los Angeles. For six months she tried to audition for parts, but was unsuccessful. Just as she planned to go home, she got the part Counselor Deanna Troi on Star Trek: The Next Generation. In 1992, she married Michael Lamper, a rock guitarist.
She wore black contact lenses throughout Star Trek's seven year run and the films because her character has black eyes. Marina's eyes are light brown.
Along with Jonathan Frakes, Armin Shimerman, Michael Ansara, and Richard Poe, she is only one of six actors to play the same character on three different Star Trek series. She played Counselor Deanna Troi in Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Enterprise.
