Biography: Paul McGillion (born in Paisley, Scotland) is a Vancouver-based actor who has worked in television, film and theatre since 1990.
His family moved to Canada from Scotland when he was only 2. The family also spent some time in Ireland before entering Canada. When Paul was 11 the family moved back to Scotland for around three years.
He also taught scene study at the Vancouver Film School in 1998 and 1999.
He currently has a major guest role on Stargate Atlantis as the Scottish medical doctor, Carson Beckett. This role was promoted to a main role in the second season of Atlantis.
Paul also played the part of young Ernest Littlefield in Stargate SG-1's first season episode "The Torment of Tantalus", the first person in the 20th century to have passed through the Stargate
He is the sixth of seven children.
