Biography: Jewel Belair Staite (born June 2, 1982 in White Rock, British Columbia) is a Canadian actress, best known for her role as Kaylee Frye in the short-lived science fiction television series Firefly (2002).
Modelling as a child and acting since the young age of 6, Staite attended the Vancouver Film School and worked at the Vancouver Youth Theatre.
Other television work includes Liar, Liar: Between Father and Daughter (1992), Flash Forward (1996), Space Cases (1996), Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: The TV Show (1997), Da Vinci's Inquest (1998), and Higher Ground (2000). She has also been a guest star on The X Files, Just Deal, Wonderfalls, and Dead Like Me.
Staite is due to reprise her role from Firefly in the Joss Whedon film Serenity (2005)
