Biography: My life has been an unfolding vision of a planet without conflict, a world that reflects the values of the soul – harmony, cooperation, sharing, and reverence for Life – and that is filled with universal humans, humans who are citizens of the Universe, whose allegiance is to Life. This has surprised me as much a anyone because the first part of my life was angry, violent, mindlessly sexual, and exploitative. In 1979 I wrote The Dancing Wu Li Masters: An Overview of the New Physics, which won The American Book Award for Science, and in 1989 I wrote The Seat of the Soul. After I began doing shows with Oprah Winfrey The Seat of the Soul became a #1 New York Times bestseller and remained on the New York Times bestseller list about three years. In 2000 I wrote Soul Stories and then in 2002 and 2003 respectively I co-authored The Heart of the Soul: Emotional Awareness and The Mind of the Soul: Responsible Choice with Linda Francis. These books became New York Times best sellers also. Together they have sold 6 million copies and been translated into 24 languages.
I was born in Texas, grew up in Kansas, graduated from Harvard, and served in Vietnam as a Green Beret officer. As I have grown older my anger and sexual addiction have been replaced by a passion for creating authentic power – the alignment of the personality with the soul. The more pain I see in the world, the more I see how it can be used to find and transform the parts of ourselves that are creating so violently and destructively into parts that create consciously and constructively. I see the potential for a new world being born in front of me and all around me, and I feel the only way to bring that potential into being is to know myself, and where necessary, change myself, to create authentic power, to align personality with soul, and I love sharing what I know about how to do that.
