Biography: Laura Bryan Birn joined The Young and the Restless in February, 1988 as Lynne Bassett, the devoted secretary to private investigator Paul Williams (Doug Davidson). Her father, Jerry Birn, was a writer on the series from 1987 until his retirement in 2004.
Birn was born in Chicago, Illinois Her family moved to Darien, Connecticut, where she remained until her teenage years when the family returned to Chicago. She began appearing in productions of several plays while a student at New Trier High School.
Birn was accepted into the highly competitive and elite Northwestern University summer theater program and later attended the University of Southern California's acting conservatory program, from which she received a B.F.A. in drama. She made her television debut on Y&R shortly after graduation.
While maintaining a demanding daytime schedule, Birn has appeared in the feature film Risky Business and the made-for-television movies Hot Times at Montclair High, Single Women, Married Men, Cries Unheard and Shattered Dreams. She was a guest host on the fitness show Bermuda Sunrise and had a guest-starring role on L.A. Law. Her theater credits include regional productions of "A Chorus Line," "Evita," "Vanities," "Crimes of the Heart" and the comedy "ER."
Birn is married to business executive Mitch Sebolsky and has a son, Matthew. She enjoys all sports, both as a fan and participant. An avid runner, she has participated in three L.A. Marathons. She also continues to study voice and dance.
